Understanding Docker in Dovre: Two Distinct Solutions
Windows WSL2 drop-in for Docker Desktop. Provisions a dedicated minimal WSL2 Alpine distro (dovre-docker) running native dockerd/containerd. Bridges the Windows named pipe (//./pipe/dovre-docker and docker_engine) with strict SDDL ACLs. Lets you start, stop, and inspect containers with zero Docker Desktop licensing or background bloat.
Lightweight cross-platform status monitor. Runs on macOS, Linux, and Windows machines that already have an existing container engine (OrbStack, Colima, native Linux dockerd, or Docker Desktop). Executes docker ps locally via the Go launcher without managing or spinning up any VM.
